Drei akustische Suggestionen für das Marler Rathaus
Die „HallRäume“ bestehen aus drei Metallobjekten, die das Format der Türe aufgreifen und als Hallplatten arbeiten. Jede der Metalltüren ist mit einem Kontaktlautsprecher versehen, der Geräusche aus den Korridoren des Rathauses auf das aus einem dünnen, frei schwingenden Blech bestehende Türblatt überträgt.
Durch die Schwingungseigenschaften des Metalls erklingen diese Geräusche leicht verhallt. Durch das Bild der Türe wir das Phänomen der künstlichen Verhallung von akustischen Signalen somit imaginativ an architektonische Raumvolumina zurückgebunden, die in unserer alltäglichen Hörerfahrung die Grundlage von Halligkeit sind .
Die HallRäume wurden 2004 mit dem Deutschen Klangkunstpreis prämiert. Die Arbeit ist in einem Katalog des Museum Glaskasten Marl dokumentiert.
Three acoustical suggestions for public spaces
ReverberationRoom was installed as a permanent installation inside the passageways of the city hall in Marl/Germany. The installation was awarded with the German sound art award in 2004. Since 2004 the installation runs in public space without interruption.
ReveberationRooms is a sound installation made of three metal objects working as reverberation plates. The shape of the objects deals with the format of doors. Each metal door has a sound transducer fixed on the backside transducing sounds, which were recorded inside the building. The sound reflections inside the metal plates produces reverberation, thus some sounds of the environment now seem to emit from imaginary places behind the curious doors.
Combining an outdated technical procedure for artificial reverberation with the icon of the door ReveberationRooms reconnects the phenomenon of artificial reverberation with the imagination of architectural space and volume, which in everyday experience is the basis of real non virtual audible reverberations.
